This was at the Texas Banjo Ben Cabin Camp for my guitar class, all completely impromptu and off the cuff. Kenny had just finished explaining how he approached the melody, and playing “outside” notes for weight and color, while still implying the melody. So that was the premise, to play around with the melody while experimenting with tension in the unexpected notes.
