In this free video drum lesson, I want to teach you how to play the main drum beat from the song “RX Queen” by Deftones featuring Abe Cunningham on drums.

The drum beat features a two bar off beat snare and bass drum groove. To make things cooler though, Abe fills in the gaps with the hi-hat creating this linear and very quirky sounding drum beat. In this lesson I also simplify the hi-hat part allowing you to focus on just the bass and snare drum part.
