In this video, I perform Incognito’s famous track “Always There” on Slap Bass and a 6-string bass.

The original song is in the key of Dm, but in this video, I play it in the key of Em.

Em is a key that is particularly easy for bass players, especially for Slap Bass, as you can use the open E string, making it easier to play and giving the phrases more power.

The song features four chords in a simple yet stylish 2-bar loop that forms a cool Slap Bass riff.

Alongside the Slap Bass, I play the melody on my main 6-string bass.

I’ve included tablature in the latter half of the video, so feel free to use it as a reference.
