元・赤い鳥の山本潤子らが結成したHi-Fi Setの1975年のデビュー・シングル。
作者の荒井由実（現・松任谷由実）も自身のアルバムに収録。
今も彼女の代表曲の一つとして、また卒業シーズンの定番としても親しまれている。
德永は味わい深い歌声でしみじみと披露。しっとりした余韻を残してくれる。
