???? Creating a Bass Groove #shorts

I get messages all the time “Teach me how to play crazy solos!” But let’s be real… my approach is different. For me, it’s all about groove, feel and using harmony to create melodic ideas, not just shredding for the sake of it.

When I lay down a groove, I focus on building a solid and soulful foundation that keeps me grounded while leaving space for improvisation. My style is about feel and rhythm, bringing out the deepest groove. My approach to harmony? Crafting melodic ideas that add color all while staying true to the groove. It all comes together in an improvised, free and fluid way, much like the classic ’60s bass lines I admire.

And yes, I respect Jeff Berlin’s technical mastery and agree with much of what he says about bass education, but I won’t teach you to play like him. I’ll teach you to play like YOU. It’s about developing your own feel, crafting phrases that speak, and making every note count.
