Ludwig Göransson's "Can You Hear The Music" from the soundtrack to Christopher Nolan's epic "Oppenheimer" was a very fun one to replicate. As Göransson talked about in the making of video of the soundtrack, they used click tracks that counted in the new tempo two bars in advance, to record all the challenging tempo changes in this piece. So I decided to make such a click track as well and it really helped a lot in playing the tempo changes smoothly. It still took some practicing however to get used to the whole buildup and to be able to play (the not very intuitive) hexatonic runs up to full speed (260bpm). The whole idea and structure behind this piece felt quite familiar though, as a pianist trained in contemporary classical music.
