3 Powerful Linear Drum Fills for Beginners | Drum Lessons

In this step by step drum lesson you'll learn 3 variations of linear drum fills. Starting with the first linear drum fill you’ll play a RKLL pattern giving you a grouping of four notes. With this RLKK pattern you'll move around the drumset in a similar motion as a tom roll. By moving in a familiar pattern like tom roll, you create a bridge between something familiar and something unfamiliar. Laying the perfect foundation for learning.
With the second variation, still keeping a similar pattern as the tom roll, you will learn how to play in a grouping of 3 using a RLK pattern. This new grouping creates a little more rhythm to your linear drum fill because the pattern moves throughout the measure with a different flow than groupings of 4.
Then in the third variation you will mix groupings of 3 and 4 and even add a third grouping to the drum fill. Adding more rhythm to your linear drum fills. And you’ll learn how the rhythm of your new linear fill compliments the drumbeat from your lesson challenge. You’ll see exactly how the groupings match up with the rhythm of the drumbeat.
