In this video, I will show you 5 common mistakes that will cause you to fail as a music producer. These are mistakes that most people make at some point, and if you don't break these bad habits early on, they will hold you back and prevent you from reaching your true potential as a music producer.
The thing is: If you want to be a successful music producer you need to finish tracks consistently. In order to finish songs, you need to develop a fast and effective workflow. That's the key to finishing tracks, so In this video, I will show you the most common mistakes musicians and music producers make that tend to hold back their development.
I'm sure many will find many of these examples familiar. Spending too much time tweaking a snare for example, or fiddling with automation, tweaking and mixing your music early on, before you even have the main melodic elements in place.
The advice given here is general workflow tips that will apply to any DAW out there. It doesn't matter if you use FL Studio, Ableton, Cubase, Studio One, or whatever. This applies to all music producers and beatmakers.
So, the next time you open FL Studio, Ableton or whatever, then keep these tips in mind. Get your melodic ideas down quickly, then focus on getting a general arrangement in place. That way you can see that your song is starting to take shape. You can then fill in the missing pieces more easily. Then, when you have the most important elements in place, you can start focusing more on mixing and mastering.
Getting fixated on mixing early on, tweaking a single element too much, or just sitting there listening to that same 8-bar loop over and over again is one of the most common mistakes people make, and is also the main reason why you're not finishing your songs.
