80s Ska Revival on Vinyl Records

As the 1970s were coming to a close, the music scene in the UK was exploding with creative possibilities. New genres that came in to existence earlier in the decade were being creatively mixed with styles from beyond Europe. One such combination created the 80s Ska Revival (AKA The 2 Tone Ska Era). The 60s Ska rhythms from Jamaica and the free form boldness of Punk were blended together with a touch of British Mod style to create a perfect recipe that yielded both jubilation and rebellion. Later in the 80s, the Ska Revival made it's way to the West Coast of America and went through even more transformation. This would eventually lead to Ska's Third Wave. However, that is a story for another video.

In this show we showcase a bunch of Ska Revival essentials from 2 Tone legends such as The Specials and Bad Manners and even a few classics from bands in the U.S.
