Poem: Your Lives I’ll Guide, I’ll Be Watching With Pride

It was my time to go even if I’d wanted to stay a while yet
But please rest assured I absolutely don’t want anyone in sad regret

When you feel me with you, in your beautiful mind
Just know that I am adoring you for being honest and kind

I will walk with you all in proud step-for-step, from the Angelic realm
And calm you in moments of life overwhelm

Talk to me in your head when you feel the call
Then push back your shoulders and stand up proud and tall

I want you to build your lives so independently strong
In your parents’ eyes you can never do any wrong

If ever you slip into overthinking doubt
Please take a private pause and read this poem out

Commit my three phrases to memory like the strongest glue
“Be happy, do your best and love the people around you”

It remains for me to let you know some facts about my time on Earth
25th May 1968 was my Gemini date of birth

Born in Greenwich, Mum and Dad gave a good childhood
For me, my two brothers and my sister life was good

I left school at age fifteen to join the family firm
Plastering, labouring, painting and decorating I had to learn

Music and karaoke would also become a bit of a thing
At pub or party I became the life and Soul when there was a song or two to sing

UB40 and Queen were right up my street
Certain to bring movement to my appreciative feet

In the animal kingdom one specie was my favourite of all the majestic things
I am, of course, referring to God’s wondrous dolphins!

Into your own lives laughter, caring and creativity you should pack
I love you My Kathleen, My Michael and My Jack
