In this video, I dive into the world of country blues, blending acoustic flow with a blues flavor. Inspired by artists like Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo', I demonstrate how to add a bluesy twist to a basic country feel using a G chord. I start by showing a simple country shuffle with fingerpicking and then with a pick for a different sound.

I break down a key lick: moving from an open D to the second fret with your second finger to create a swinging rhythm. I also introduce a hammer-on technique on the D string and how to incorporate it into your playing. Moving to a C chord, I use the same D string technique to add flavor, and then show how to transition to a D7 chord for a richer sound.

I also demonstrate a turnaround technique, pinching the F note on the D string and the G note on the high E string, walking it down chromatically for a bluesy effect. Additionally, I explain how to create a cool-sounding D7 chord and incorporate it into your playing.

For a complete musical experience, I show how to alternate between different chords and licks, adding variety and a country swing to your playing. And if you hear some background percussion, that's just my wife Kelly in the kitchen chopping veggies – adding an extra rhythm to our session.

So, there you have it – a taste of country blues in the key of G. Enjoy experimenting with these techniques, and I'll see you down the road. ????????
