ALL MUSIC IS PSYCHEDELIC for the lucky! By definition it means causing effects on the mind, even altered states of consciousness. Any music lover is aware of how a piece of music can change your mood and perception of time and space. Further more, studies have shown that the mind enters into trance like states after about ten minutes of listening to a piece of music. This piece is LONG, SLOW and DEEP, I've listened to it numerous times, and I am amazed at where it puts me. Definitely not for everyone, but, if you enjoy new sonic experiences, dive in! Oh, it is BLACKSCREEN!

"Altered States" a 1980 movie, dealt with experiments in isolation tanks. I wish I had one, the nearest thing I have is a vintage cast iron "claw foot" tub filled with warm water, lol. I can only imagine what it would be like floating in an isolation tank with this piece playing. Can you? Close your eyes and Enjoy!

More about this piece: (if interested)
Over a year ago, when I started using a lap harp which I had sitting around for years, I attached a contact mic inside the sound chamber and I fell in love with the instrument, however, by pure accident while hammering the strings I struck the hollow body and the sound it produced caught my attention immediately, I've used that technique on several pieces of music including most of my collaborations, but , I wanted to create a longer piece featuring these "thumps", well here it is. I limited myself to just the thumps, recorded solo on a mono track with no, synths, background track , drone, multi tracks or loops, just the thumps, each one unique in tonality, resonance, texture and intensity depending on which instrument body was used and where and how hard it was struck, then I applied FX and individually panned and adjusted the volume of each, to "place" it on a vast sound stage that comes close to being holographic (I don't have "Atmos" capability, all my gear is two channel stereo). Each burst sounds like an isotropic sonic grenade going off at various angles on the horizon, their shock waves passing through and around you, some from far off in the distance and others almost in your face. There are many unexpected spaces throughout this long piece, even for me, and I created it, the dynamics go from booming to whisper quiet, right to the end, just when you think you've heard it all, it will engulf you, it can get visceral, I may be delusional about all of this, but, that is what keeps me going! Sorry, about so many words for what is basically a minimalist piece. If you came this far, thank you for hanging with me!

Finally, it is my New Years resolution to be more adventurous, courageous, and share more thoughts, not because it matters, only because I want to! Best Wishes for the New Year! Good riddance to the last one!
