In this video, we’ll dive into the basics of playing the diatonic harmonica—the most common type used by beginners. The harmonica I’m using is in the key of C, and we’ll walk through how to play it effectively!
What is a harmonica tab? ????
On the screen, you’ll see a tab, which is basically a script or roadmap for playing your harmonica. It shows you exactly which holes to blow or suck into, helping you play the correct notes. This is crucial for beginners because it simplifies the process, allowing you to focus on breathing and hand positioning while playing.
How Does It Work?
Numbers: Each number represents a hole on your diatonic harmonica (1-10).
As in this example blow number is not in brackets and a suck is in brackets
When you read other tabs they may be made up of - and + indicating suck on minus blow on plus.
For example:
+4 = Blow into hole 4
-4 = Suck into hole 4
