The Pearlgrace gals recently got to sit in a jam session with renowned fiddle player Tim Crouch in Mountain View Arkansas; video coming of this tune played there. Samantha learned several of her licks for Bill Cheatham from Mr. Crouch.

History about the tune, according to the United States Library of Congress website:
- Meter: 4/4
- Compass: 15
- Key: A
- Strains: 2 (low-high, 4-4)
- Rendition: 1-2-1r-2r-1
- Related Tune(s): Brilliancy Medley
- "Bill Cheatham" has been popular for much of the twentieth century in the Upper South, and it has been recorded periodically by country and bluegrass fiddlers as a fiddling set piece. Henry Reed's version is similar to the usual version of the tune but differs consistently from it in the treatment of the first few notes of the lower strain. Representative early recordings of "Bill Cheatham" include a set by Texan Eck Robertson and Family as the middle part of his "Brilliancy Medley," and "Bill Cheathem," recorded by Arthur Smith and the Delmore Brothers; both are reissued on Old-Time Fiddle Classics (County 507).
