This is a classic take-an-old-song-and-fuck-it-up. I had a lot of fun messing with it, and I feel like it somehow portrays more understanding of practical music theory than I have. I was going to upload it on a certain date of mine (November 10th for the curious viewer), but it got finished earlier than I expected and I don't really want to wait two months. Some extra tidbits: I got the idea with the starting 9/8 to 6/4 part, originally being 12/8 to 6/4 with something else happening on the first three beats, and after writing it mostly how it is right now I abandoned it for some time because I hadn't learned my lesson and thought the flat.io trumpet could redeem itself (I still prepare to cringe when starting the song; nothing can redeem the flat.io trumpet). Also, when writing the parts coinciding with "happy birthday dear [name]," the specific one stuck in my head was "happy birthday dear grandma." It occurred to me, making this, that I didn't actually know what time signature Happy Birthday is in (it's in 3/4, like much of the song; it sounds off because of how the pickups are handled [so expertly, if I may put in my opinion]). The instrumentation is:
Violin
French Horn
Piccolo
Tuba
Contrabassoon
Vibraphone
Woodblocks
