http://www.vladtv.com - Bone Crusher spoke with Battle Rap Journalist Michael Hughes about the process of making music and the current state of Hip Hop and R&B Music, in this clip from his exclusive interview with VladTV.
Crusher started by addressing the negative stigma that has been placed upon Battle Rappers for years, and that they create great battle bars, but can't make good music. According to Crusher, the only difference between battling and making music that people can really vibe to is the creative way in which a person manages to tell their story over a particular beat. Crusher stated that just putting bars together is not enough, and that battlers need to feed their music with that "hunger" and passion while telling their story, then it will grab the attention of their audience and make them want to hear more of them.
He went on to discuss the current state of Hip Hop and R&B music and how much of the content is watered down presently. Crusher believes that if artists continue to sell music that has no real substance, then nobody will want to continue to purchase their product. He thinks that people need to put more effort into crafting their work with the "quality over quantity" mindset, rather than just put out work for a big check. Crusher also thinks that fans are so willing to continue to support watered down music because in this day and age, people look at music as something that they can download for free. He concluded by explaining why he thinks that Caucasian R&B artists are currently "beating us" because they put out music with more quality.
