We recorded it in the back of a bus on a couch in one take.
Most of it was even improvised on the fly…????

The lyrics are about an old toxic relationship of mine where I was struggling with self worth issues and depression ❤️‍???? I’m over that particular hurdle but the lessons are important to reflect upon ????
???? I hadn’t decided on a song on the day of recording. Cadby works fast and I was under pressure to perform something worth everyone’s time ????
This old tune came back to me an hour before shooting and I decided to go with it.
⚔️We picked our preferred tools from the seemingly endless quiver of instruments the bus housed and sat ourselves in a comfy spot on the couch and got into it…
????Iao’s resonator guitar and the banjo flowed effortlessly with my acoustic rhythms.
The harmonica never was a part of my repertoire back when this song was conceived and the tone suits the new arrangement perfectly ????
I left out the original bridge which might make a comeback in the studio recording of this track but for now, a folky, ska, 4-chord banger acoustic remix will be its debut ????
????This has been a labour of love for all to enjoy, it was a pleasure to work with all of you to bring my Waiata to life ????
