Today I had the day off and the house to myself. I sat in front of the TV, trumpet in hand, for much of the afternoon and just noodled along when I felt like it. I came to realize that I wasn't keeping up well in the low register, particularly with 3rd valve notes - that finger was dragging today. That inspired a trip to the practice room....
