Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords Of Lynyrd Skynyrd. I've had a ton of requests for more Southern Rock after the recent The Allman Brothers Band lesson was posted, and that includes a number of Skynyrd requests. I figured it was finally time to tackle some of Skynyrd's timeless-n-swampy blues-rock music - so let's dive in!

This lesson targets a number of early Skynyrd songs, and while most of these examples are lesser-known and "deep cuts," there are more than a few featuring familiar songs and it's all great music to dive into and snag a few new/useful chord-based ideas. The songs choices hiding in this lesson include barn-burners such as 'Swamp Music,' 'Ain't No Good Life,' 'Poison Whiskey,' 'Workin' For MCA,' 'You Got That Right,' and 'I Know A Little' - to name a few.

There's something interesting to uncover/gain from studying some of the music and playing habits of the Southern Rock greats. That includes Lynyrd Skynyrd, but also The Allman Brothers Band, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker Band, and many others. There's something special about that energetic and swampy blues-rock music fused with little bits of country music and twang - for blues-rock music fans, it doesn't get much better than this folks!
