Milwaukee folk group Leahys Luck performing the Scottish traditional carol, Christ Child Lullaby. Part of Celtic Music Holiday Celebration program.
The lyrics of Christ Child Lullaby were written in the mid-1800s by Father Ranald Rankin, who lived in Moidart, a remote area of Scotland in the heart of the West Highlands, before emigrating to Australia.
In Scots-Gaelic, the song is known as Tàladh ar Slànair (translated to The Lullaby of our Savior) and was sung to the melody of a tune called Cumha Mhic Àrois (the Lament for Mac Àrois). Traditionally, this song is sung at Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve in parts of Scotland.
