Everyone credits the early 2000s with creating deathcore —
but what if the first deathcore album came out in the 1990s... from a Christian band?
Before Despised Icon, The Red Chord, or Antagony ever dropped their debut, a Texas band called Embodyment released Embrace the Eternal in 1998.
It had everything: death metal brutality, hardcore energy, breakdowns, panic chords, and piercing high screams — all before the genre even had a name.
Signed to Solid State Records, Embodyment helped lay the foundation for deathcore long before it became a scene.
And yet… almost no one gives them credit.
