"It’s 2015. After a decade of trying to buy back the rights to all my original Circle of Dust albums, I finally succeed and in that newfound excitement decide I want to write a brand new album. Lyrical inspiration flew at me from every corner because the world we lived in back then seemed to be careening out of control (Just wait a few more years when we’re introduced to this fun little thing called Coronavirus….) One thing I observed was that the concept of “Big Brother” I had heard about growing up was completely irrelevant. We were told in a famous George Orwell story that the government (AKA Big Brother) would spy on us and know all of our secrets and nobody would be safe, yet here I was in 2015 and the government had no need to spy on us - we gave them (and everyone else in the world) access to our whole lives, willingly. Every thought, every like and dislike, every detail of every meal we’d eat in a day. The internal toxicities of the human condition started to permeate every part of our society, and we had no idea how grotesquely worse the situation would become by 2025.
I miss the days of rotary phones and having to talk to someone to their actual face rather than hide behind an electronic device that sucks the life out of our very soul and we deathscoll into our graves. I’d take the threat of big brother anytime over this - at least we would all be united against a common enemy.
Willing transmission of disease, worship new deities - CONTAGION." — Klayton

Lyrics:
Has nobody noticed our infection?
This slow and willing genocide
Terminal sickness spreads
Through thoughts inside our heads
Our consciences under the knife
Willing transmission of disease
Worship new deities
Contagion
We’ve all succumbed to misdirection
Lost in the concerns of our own lives
Sedated willingly by our technology
Ignorant bliss until we die
"We don't have to buy anything they make, do we?"
"Well, I say the less we have to do with fancy things we don't need, the better."
(Contagion)
Have we been sick since our inception?
Doomed to our own willing suicide
And as we watch it spread
The living become dead
But never stop to question why
Sickness in disguise
Our contagion
Open up our eyes
Our contagion
