"If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me".

Matthew 16:24
"Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me".

The cross is a symbol of Jesus' sacrifice, and a call to self-sacrifice, self-abasement, and dying to self. It represents a willingness to die for the sake of others, out of obedience.
The concept of "cross-bearing" has lost much of its original meaning today. We often use it to refer to an inconvenient or bothersome circumstance. However, for Jesus' disciples, it means everything. I am my brother's keeper and my Father's obedient son.
My walk with God has been a revelation of truths and discernment. I pray that one day, I will be whole in God's word and live a righteous life—a life that gets the Father's attention. I'm growing; I am walking faster toward the cross.
