Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Brewster's Millions Of Rants with Creative Guitar 101. I've had the idea for this lesson on the backburner for a while, so I'm glad to finally get this one together and posted for the viewers out there!

One of the most common requests from guitar students over the years (aside from specific songs/techniques/scales), is how to play and/or become more creative with music. There's a massive difference between learning someone else's song, and tapping into yourself and writing something of your own. Let's be honest, musicians are artists, and the best thing for every musician to explore is how to produce and create innovative, original, and creative music.

This lesson opens with an opening jam, followed by a little ranting around the subject of creativity - including where you can find it and the basics of moving into creative thought and ideas. From there, we're hitting a plucked harmonic melodic phrase from Adrian Belew pulled from the current Beat tour (which is happening right now). Then we're performing a very common scale using natural harmonics, finding a few ways to tap single string scales, not to mention exploring the world of making chord variations, by reworking an innocent A minor triad into a variety of tonalities, chord types, and sounds.

Needless to say, if you're a player wanting to tap into creative thinking and ideas, a guitarist interested in finding new ways to approach simple/common concepts, or maybe you're just curious what all the fuss is about - this lesson is totally for you! Give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!
