According to his wife Helen Snell, actor David Soul, who was best known for his part in the television series Starsky & Hutch, passed away at the age of 80 before his death.

The American actor passed away on Thursday while he was surrounded by his family.

In the popular television series about solving crimes, which aired from 1975 to 1979, Soul portrayed the role of Detective Kenneth "Hutch" Hutchinson at the same time that Paul Michael Glaser played Starsky.David Soul, a beloved husband, father, grandpa, and brother, passed away yesterday after a courageous fight for life in the loving company of his family, according to a statement released by Ms. Snell on behalf of the family.

He was a good friend, an actor, a singer, a storyteller, and a creative artist. He shared many extraordinary gifts with the world.

"His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched."

Soul was well-known for his parts in numerous films, including Here Come the Brides, Magnum Force, and The Yellow Rose, in addition to his work on Starsky & Hutch.

With Ben Stiller playing the part of Starsky and Owen Wilson playing the role of Hutch in the remake of Starsky and Hutch that was released in 2004, he and Glaser repeated their roles. In the beginning of his professional career, Soul was a folk singer. He was known for warming up audiences for artists such as Frank Zappa, the Byrds, and the Lovin' Spoonful. However, he eventually became famous as an actor.

During his teenage years, he lived in Mexico, where his father was a professor at a college for young diplomats. It was then that he developed an interest in music.

It was then that he made friends with a group of radical students who not only provided him with a guitar but also instructed him in the songs of Mexico's indigenous people.

When he returned to the United States, he was able to achieve some kind of popularity by performing those songs in the Minneapolis area; but, it was not until he wore a mask and concealed his face that his career began to fully take off.

His stage name was "The Covered Man," and he was signed by the William Morris Agency. He went on to make appearances on several talk shows on television, including multiple performances on the Merv Griffin show, which received a lot of positive reviews.

But after he made the decision to take off the mask and expose who he was, his bookings began to decrease, and he eventually began acting instead.

He later returned to music, putting out four albums of soft rock ballads in the late 1970s. This was after the popularity of Starsky & Hutch, which he had previously achieved.

They were responsible for producing two singles that reached number one in the United Kingdom: Silver Lady and Don't Give Up On Us. Both of these singles were purchased by devoted followers of his television character.

According to a review published by the New York Times in 1977, his first concert after achieving success was characterized by the presence of "teenage girls armed with cameras charging the stage" in the middle of "the flicker of hundreds of exploding flashcubes and a continuous squealing."

As a result of his time spent in jail and rehabilitation, the fervor subsided, and he went on to make only one more album, which was titled Leave a Light On and was published by himself in 1997.
