If you want to learn how to get a brand new sound into your guitar playing - and do it fast, then you’ve come to the right place. This lesson shows how easy it is to build on two popular modes, (Dorian and Mixolydian) by adding one new note, of, “major 7th.” Getting this sound requires that you understand the pattern and the interval structure for a new scale platform called the, “Bebop Scale.”
The scale quality of the notes used in the Bebop scale patterns are based upon the mode that it will be derived from. Mixolydian mode offers a Major quality and Dorian mode offers Minor quality. The major 7th is the only new note but it will occur on the same degree of each mode making the application process both fast & easy to learn and apply.
Performing the Bebop scale will help guitarists discover a fresh reliance on this scale sound to help provide an interesting color. In fact, this sound is one of the main components of Jazz, Soul and R&B music styles. The cool part however, is how Bebop has the ability to add chromatic ideas across any piece of music that you might want the effect for, no matter what the musical genre might be!
