Edelweiss - The Sound Of Music Soundtrack Cover

Did you know that “Edelweiss” is the national flower of Austria? It grows high up in the mountains in the Alps and is a “protected species”, so you are not allowed to pick it if you are lucky enough to encounter one in the wild.

When the song-writing team Rodgers and Hammerstein composed the music for the musical “Sound Of Music” they composed “Edelweiss” from scratch. So contrary to what a lot of people think it is not actually a traditional Austrian folk song and was purely written for the 1959 musical. But it could be and we like it! Seeing as we two are Austrians, it seemed right to cover it, don’t you think?
