Enjoy Yourself (It’s later than you think) was originally written by Carl Sigman and Herb Magidson, and was originally released in 1949 by Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians. In 1968, it was released as a Ska version – probably the best known – by Prince Buster.
It has been covered by so many artists and bands, and in more modern times, 1980, by a UK ska band The Specials.
Cecil Bustamente Campbell, known as Prince Buster was a Jamaican singer, songwriter and producer, and a legend of ska/rocksteady/reggae music. As in some of the other videos I’ve covered of
ska/reggae pioneers, Prince Buster also worked with Clement ‘Coxsone’ Dodd before setting up his own ‘Sound system’. There was an outpouring of talent and music from Jamaica during this time.
