FENNELL "Holy Manna" (for Solo Flugelhorn with Piano)

I’ve been away a little while, but hard at work all along…lots of good things in progress right now!
I’ve always appreciated the old American hymntune, “Holy Manna” – otherwise known as “Brethren, We Have Met to Worship.” I’d originally written a treatment of this to play at a church service with my excellent colleague and friend, Andrew Reamer (Principal Percussion Emeritus of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra) I’ll put a link to that recording just below. Recently, there was a request for a version where the solo would be playable with brass band, and more recently, I played it with the River City Brass on our March concert series. Our recording of this will be coming out in a few weeks. But then I had the thought that there really should be a version playable just with solo and piano. The piece is meant to conjure the sound something like fiddle and dulcimer in a frontier setting—maybe at a church picnic in spring.
