I've been a fan of Gawr Gura for about a year now. You might've picked up on a little reference in the music video for my song "Springtrap".
So, when I recently woke up to her graduation announcement, I was obviously pretty devastated, even if it was a long time coming.
But nothing could've prepared me for this song, which she dropped a few days after.
It might be my bias and connection to her, but this song absolutely destroyed me. And although that might sound like a bad thing, it reminded me of why I started making music in the first place. To speak to peoples emotions and to inspire people the same way that art/movies/music inspires me.
And oh boi, did this song spark a flame in me. The composition and the sounddesign are absolutely phenomenal, and Guras voice made me get Goosebumps multiple times throughout the song.
Paired with the amazing animation, this is truly the best way to lead this chapter to an end: With one hell of a BANG!

Anyway, having been inspired by the song to this degree, I of course wanted to give it a shot as well, and I'm really happy that I did, because I am extremely proud of how this turned out. My voice might not be the best for soft music like this, but I gave it my all, and I think I did pretty well.
I'm putting things in place to record a proper music video for this soon.

Some more context: Who's Gura and what happened?
Gawr Gura is a Vtuber/Idol that debuted in 2020. After only 40 days she reached 1.000.000 subscribers. She streamed a bunch of games, released original songs and covers, and collabed with other members of Hololive. Her sweet and kind personality, hilarious and cursed humor as well as her witty comebacks or braindead moments, made her one of the most popular vtubers for quite some time. Though that popularity also came with lots of stress and anxiety. Gura mentioned in her graduation announcement that there had been times where it was hard to eat or keep food down.
So, what is a graduation? A graduation is when a vtuber cuts ties with their persona and with the company they work for.
Of course, they could always continue streaming as indie-vtubers, not bound to any companies, but due to NDA's they are not allowed to bring up their past.
It's like your favorite character dying in a show, only to re-appear in another season with no memory of what happened.
That's what makes these graduations so sad. All the memories that were built with the fanbase will stay in the past, never to be shared with each other again.
But as sad as that might be, I absolutely understand her decision and wish her the best moving forward.
Let's hope we'll meet again...
