50 years ago today, Genesis brought “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” Tour to The Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, CA with a now-legendary concert, as part of their run of shows in North America.
The Lamb live show was extremely ambitious for its time -- the setlist comprised of the then-unreleased album front to back, several costume changes from Peter Gabriel and 1,500 background slides illustrating the album’s surreal narrative -- cementing Genesis as one of the pioneers of multimedia experiences in rock music.
As Joseph Bensoua, reviewing the concert at The Shrine on January 24, 1975, put it, “A Genesis concert…is where reality ends and fantasy begins…”
