“GENTLE ON MY MIND” is a song everybody knows and loves. It was a big hit for John Hartford (who wrote it), Glen Campbell, and others back in 1967 and ever since. Hartford said he was inspired by the movie Doctor Zhivago. He came home after the movie and wrote the song in about 30 minutes. Pretty good return on investment for the cost of a movie ticket!
