We are getting ready to perform the Hindemith Symphony in Bb, so I thought I'd revisit his Sonate. This is a standard of the solo repertoire and I often find that the phrases are lost in the attempt to be "too orchestral" with it. Here are a few thoughts that I think about during these opening phrases.
