A professional bassist has to master a lot of skills, but if we boil it down to one skill, what is the most important thing to the other musicians that play with us? Big Wreck drummer Sekou Lumumba is a consummate professional and I asked him for the most important quality he looks for in the bass players that he wants on stage with him. His answer is something we think is simple and take for granted but how many of us actually do it.
