Walk downs happen all of the time in songs so this is a must learn. If you're watching this you probably already know this idea in the open position. If you know that, then now is the time to learn the walk down w/ triads. Triads will help you learn your neck better and will also help you come up with cooler chord voicings that will set your playing apart from other guitar players.
