Understanding Chords on Violin
Chords consist of three or more notes played together. Since the violin can only sustain two notes at a time, chords on violin are played as a rapid split between two double stops, creating the illusion of a full chord. The exception is when a chord includes an open string, which continues to resonate even after the bow moves to other strings.
One common mistake is ending on a single note instead of finishing with two notes. When playing three or four-note chords, always start and end with two notes.
