Here's a look at the grooves for the verse and chorus of Jimi Hendrix's Highway Chile which has been provided to us by the fabulous Mitch Mitchell.
The feel goes from swung to straight and it's a great opportunity to develop the ability to move between the two without losing your rhythmic integrity.

This video was recorded with a couple of Lumix G7 cameras. The audio was recorded on a Zoom Podtrak 4.

The drums were recorded using a Glyn Johns type setup with a Sennheiser BF521 on the floor tom side and a Beyer M201 overhead. In the bass an M88 and an SM57 on the snare but hardly used.

The kit is a 20, 10,12, 14 Pearl Masters BRX with some janky old Evans EC1 heads.
The snare is a 1960's Supra with a Kentville dead kangaroo head.
Sabian HHX Groove hihats and a 21" Groove ride and a bosphorus traditional 18" crash.

If you'd like some help with your drumming, I offer one-to-one lessons online via Zoom or Skype.
