It is good to work on being able to play piano as quietly as possible. Quiet playing is critical for having dynamic range and making a piano sound beautiful. This requires a lot of control compared to playing loud.
Volume is dictated by the speed of the key going down which is controlled by the amount of weight transferred from the hand or arm. Playing quietly requires a controlled "light touch" which is developed through practice.
One way to practice this is by the "ghosting" exercise shown in this video where you play so quietly that it is silent. Then learn to go one notch louder and you will have arrived at the lowest volume possible.
