How do good singers get good? In my experience in working some pretty amazing singers this past year, it is NEVER from following a 'plan', a set of warmup exercises or regular practicing.

Those things are good and useful for keeping your voice in shape and free from injury, but they definitely don't make an interesting and expressive voice! Why is it that some vocalists seem to ooze texture and interest and most 'voice students', or by-the-book singers seem awkward, forced and uninteresting?
