How to sing in whistle register for beginners: DONT! You’re killing your voice #whistleregister

I got caught up in the hype of the beautiful RARE sounds of the 6th octave and I didn’t tell yall the downsides to doing this. Not only do I have to warm up really well, but it took so long and so much to be able to do this.

I was extremely tired and my throat was hurting after. Whenever I try to practice my whistles I never do it often bc it is a draining process and it’s unreliable. Sometimes I can do it MOST times I can’t. My natural voice cuts out at D6.

That’s the highest note I’ve sung WITH MY TEACHER and we just casually worked my way up and I didn’t even notice I was singing that high, because D6 is an extension of my natural voice. Anything after that I can’t do, literally I don’t produce sound.

I want yall to be safe, and being a beginner we really have no business trying to do that bc it’s dangerous. Singing wrong can really damage your vocal cords and it feels like a sprained ankle, it happened to me before when I first wanted to learn how to sing.

I wasn’t even singing that high and I hurt my voice so bad from improper technique that I stopped for 6 months and enrolled in voice at my college. Please be smart. There are low notes and middle notes that you should be focusing on to build your foundation.
