Writing bass parts that add “contrast” to other parts within a song is an excellent way to "glue" the composition together while creating a unique voice with your bass. The key is to simply unlock your critical listening skills, take a step back, and listen to a given composition differently than you normally do. Creativity is all about achieving the right perspective!
