About the artist:

Wesley Tucker, born in 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, grew up surrounded by the sounds of the city’s burgeoning soul music scene. In 1975, while stocking shelves and humming Marvin Gaye tunes during his shift, Wesley was overheard by a record producer grabbing a coffee. Recognizing raw talent, the producer invited Wesley to audition for a local group. That group, later known as The Rhinos, became one of the most electrifying soul ensembles of the late 1970s. The Rhinos debuted their first album, Charging Ahead, in 1976, but it was their 1977 hit single, “I Took a Gas Station Pill,” that rocketed them to fame. The playful yet heartfelt track resonated with audiences across the country. It became an anthem of perseverance and groove, topping the R&B charts for five weeks.
