I wonder
What you would do
if you saw yourself as I see you
I wonder
How you would feel
if expressing the essence within you wasn’t something you felt you had to conceal
I wonder
Who you might be
if you didn’t loose sight,
If you didn’t suppress your nature
if you had the courage to expose yourself for everyone to see
If you found the strength
And power
in vulnerability
I wonder
Who’s reflection you would see
I wonder
What you would see
if you looked at yourself with curiosity
I wonder
If you could be
Excited and ready
For all the possibilities
Rather than dreading your own reality
Irrationally and critically
I wonder
What you would do
If you knew to listen to the voice that’s inside of you
As you scold your imperfections
Offering yourself cold rejections
Beat yourself to the ground
With your hands bound
While the voice inside of you
Begs
And pleas
This simply cannot be
This cannot be everything that amounts to me
For I know the beauty
Everything you see
I see
But I see it differently
When you crumble in dispare
Claim that you are never enough
From within I see nothing to compare
For you are a treasure that is rare
You are precious
Don’t treat yourself so wreck less
Because I love you
You leave me breathless
This life you lead
It’s priceless
So listen to me
Listen to the voice that speaks
Inside of you
Learn to see you as I do
Because when I speak to you
I’m speaking to me too
