The 4th February is the birthday of the musician who is the long-serving drummer for The Animals, John Steel. He is the only original bandmember playing in the current incarnation of The Animals having been with the band since 1963. He had piano lessons as a child and went on to play the trumpet too.
The Animals rose to prominence with their signature song and transatlantic number-one hit single "The House of the Rising Sun", and continued this success with hits such as "We Gotta Get Out of This Place", "It's My Life", "Don't Bring Me Down", "I'm Crying", "See See Rider" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood".

John was inducted with the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994
