I always have the highest expectations of students and do my best to pack my masterclasses full of applicable methods and techniques.

In a 60 minute session I worked with the high school students at the Elon University Jazz Festival to understand the following:

1. Riffing using the Kansas City Scale
2. Blues form in numbers
3. Chord riffs over form
4. Secondary dominant to the IV chord
5. Making simple choices as a form of basic improvisation
