I had the opportunity to sit down with ShySpeaks a few hours before the Mic Drop Homecoming event kicked off in Tulsa, OK. She shared insight into her mission, perspective on the journey for female MCs, and her plans for the future.

Shy Amos, also known as ShySpeaks, is an American hip-hop and spoken word artist. With her soulful voice, thoughtful lyrics, and irrepressible confidence, Shy is winning fans from San Francisco to the UK and nations in between. Her rhymes are brilliant, spiritual, and introspective; she's on another level. Simply put, ShySpeaks is a renaissance! As evident in her mission, “…to treat the words artist, advocate, and activist as one in the same”, the female lyricist is expanding her catalog of inspirational music and poetry to showcase a fresh, universal sound. Shy is a very proud native of Dallas, TX.
