The Kingdom of Kush, was a powerful and mysterious civilization, and thrived along the Nile for over a thousand years, rivalling even ancient Egypt. They were known for their warrior queens and mysterious pyramid-filled necropolises at Meroë. Their kings, were thought to be gods, and ruled over huge populations. One tale tells of the fierce Kandake (Queen) Amanirenas, who led Kushite forces in battle against the Romans, famously defeating them and securing a peace treaty after a bold military campaign. ????????️????
