Hey there, friends! In this week's lesson I'll teach you to play Lean On Me, the 1972 classic from Bill Withers. This song uses just a few chords and a single progression throughout – but the real fun happens when the piano/vocal is combined with the strummed chords. I'll teach you how to do this – whether you want something beginner friendly (melody notes by themselves) or something a bit more advanced (combining the melody with strumming).

I've also created a "part 2" lesson for this song, where I'll dive into some continued exploration of a few intermediate topics. This includes playing the chorus melody while strumming (0:16), a demo of my preferred "advanced" strumming pattern (9:12), and how to mimic the percussive sound of the bass during the bridge (14:16). Finally – I've also put together a start-to-finish play-through of all sections, with chords & tabs shown on the screen.
