Learn the moveable guitar riff found in "Listen To The Music", "Sweet Home Alabama", "The Wind Cries Mary", and other songs. This is one of many riff and lick shapes you can find in my free web app "The Building Blocks Of Rock", available here:

https://guitarviz.com/bbr.html
It's just a web page, all you have to do is open it. Nothing to download, and you don't need to sign up for anything.

The first half of the video is an overview of this common riff shape, which lives in between the two basic barre chord shapes, in a part of the fretboard map many players are less familiar with. You'll learn how to move it around the neck based on the underlying chord, the different ways of playing it, and see how it fits into scales and music theory.

The second half of the video is a lesson on how to play this lick in "Sweet Home Alabama and "Listen To The Music". You'll get lots of detail on "Listen To The Music", to help you learn the strumming pattern, and also the interesting chord shapes and riffs found in the rest of the song. All of the lesson is filmed from the player viewpoint, including the pick hand.

I also discuss Marty Schwartz' interview with Ed King, the Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist who came up with the main guitar parts. You can find Marty's interview with Ed here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnmdyejQYsk
Ed shows Marty how he plays it starting at around 23:15.

Please leave any comments or questions. I do read them all!
cheers, Kevin

p.s. my guitar may be slightly off standard tuning in a few places in the video. I'll be more careful next time!
