In Lesson 20, we introduce Accents – where you emphasise a note by playing it louder than those around it. We also introduce Rimshots – where you strike the centre and edge of the drum at the same time with the same stick, creating a loud 'gunshot'-like effect. Rimshots can be a good way to play accents if you want them extra loud and punchy (though this isn't a rule).
